Visiting The Butchart Gardens After 31 Years

On our trip to Vancouver Island this summer my wife Chris and I decided to visit The Butchart Gardens again after 31 years. The last time we were here was on our honeymoon. It was my first time visiting the west coast and Vancouver Island. The Butchart Gardens are located just north of the City of Victoria at Brentwood Bay. I have to admit that as a guy, this was not at the top of my list of things to go see while on the island. Chris often drags me to see things I am not really interested in. I…

WNBF Canada 2020 Season Cancelled

Yesterday WNBF Canada announced that the WNBF Canada 2020 Season was cancelled. I had planned on competing in May but those shows were postponed until later this fall. Given the option to compete in the fall or compete next year, I chose to compete next year. I made this decision for two reason. The first and most important was that it was to long to stay that lean. This would have been unhealthy in my opinion. Second was that there was no guarantee that the shows would happen. This turned out to be true so even more glad I made…

New Bike Trailer – Stinger XL 112

After riding my bike out to Vancouver Island last year I wanted to find a better option this year. The solution was to buy the Stinger XL 112 folding trailer. I plan on going out every year and participating in Ryde The Rock and visiting my dad. Having a trailer to tow my bike out seems like a good idea. My only problem is I do not have room to store a conventional trailer. Buying a folding trailer solves that problem. Don’t get me wrong I think riding my bike out there and back last year was a once in…

New Video Game – The Cycle

I came across a new video game last week called The Cycle by YAGER Development. This is currently free on the Epic Games store and it’s a ton of fun! My son Kyle and I have been playing for a week now and unlike Battle Royal games where the last man or team standing wins, your placing in the game is based on completing contracts which are PvE based. This is something completely new and while there is an element of PvP it’s not the primary focus of the game. Even if you do get into a battle with another…

Highwood Pass Ride

Yesterday I went on a ride through Highwood Pass in Kananaskis Country, which is just west of Calgary, Alberta. Highway 40 takes you through the highest paved pass in Canada and offers spectacular views of the mountains and wildlife. We saw a couple groups of mountain goats crossing the highway along the way. This is a very popular ride with motorcyclists as a round trip from Calgary is just over 300 kms, so it makes for a nice day trip on a bike. This was my first time taking highway 40 over the pass and the weather was perfect. The…

Riding A Motorcycle In The Year 2020

Last year I bought a used bike and started riding a motorcycle again. In my youth I rode motorcycles on the farm. In my early 20’s I raced motocross all over Alberta. I also owned a Honda 750 Supersport for the street. I really missed riding so getting a chance to buy a bike and hit the road again was a dream come true. It’s hard to describe what it’s like to ride a bike until you actually have done it yourself. There is a sense of freedom you can’t get doing anything else. Riding a motorcycle taught me to…

Quest Protein Bar Review

As a bodybuilder it’s very important to ensure you consume enough high quality protein to support your goals. I do this by having a variety of protein options available. Quest protein bars are a quick and easy solution especially if you are on the go. Finding a quality protein bar made with whey protein as well as a decent amount of dietary fiber is a challenge. There are many protein bars that have similar protein, carbs and fats, but very few also come with a decent amount of fiber. I have been aware of Quest protein bars for years now…

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day everyone! I hope all of you are safe and healthy and able to enjoy celebrating Canada’s 153rd birthday today. As a native born Canadian I have been proud of my country for most of my life. Many people around the world want to come to Canada for a better life and that speaks volumes of what Canada has to offer. That said I wonder how many more birthdays Canada will have? I am 55 years old and I can’t remember a more divided country. East versus West, Left versus Right. Resource Development versus Environment. Canada use to…

Valencia Tuscany Console Edition Home Theatre Seating

I have always wanted to have my own home theatre and to accomplish that one needs to have home theatre seating. Up until recently having a home theater was something only the wealthy could afford but now that is starting to change with more affordable options. Home furniture retailers have started selling home theater seating and even Best Buy sells them now. Makes sense really, as you can get everything you need for a complete home theater at one retailer. The biggest issue I had was space and if I went with true theater seating, which has arms on both…

PC Online Gaming

Online gaming is a great way to socialize and spend time with friends, especially when you can’t get together during a pandemic. Having the ability to play with friends and work together as a team to conquer virtual worlds is a great way to spend one’s time. It was because of my interest in gaming that I wanted to learn more about computers. This ultimately lead to me going back to school to get a diploma in Computer Science and started my career in Information Technology. Something I am still doing and enjoying 20 years later. I am a big…
